So Mos Def perfomred at the 930 Club last Mon. The tix were $45 and that money could have went towards the purchase of a new pair of shoes...or groceries. The show was supposed to start at 930 (just like the Club's name) and he didn't walk on stage till 11:45. Oh and I forgot to mention it was 20 degrees outside. Yeah so, during his performance, he got all hyped up and said "I'm just a N*gga." Which I'm cool with, he can describe himself in any which way he pleases. But then he said "If you're a N*gga, put your hands up". I looked at my girlfriend and said is he serious? Maybe that mess was cool before Nov, 11, 2008...but we got a black man in the White House now. And what makes matters worse is that the white folks was going along with it. So all in all, I gave the performance 2 out of 5 stars. Instead of going to see Mos Def, go spend that $45 dollars on a new pair of shoes...or groceries.

Apparently Only Hoes Should Know Their Status

So, remember all those HIV/Aids campaigns that encourage you to "Know Your Status." It's been a year or two since I've had a test, so I decided to get an HIV/Aids test. I wasn't scared or nothing, I just wanted to take care of business. While at the doctor's office, I asked boldly to have a test performed. Well the nurse says with a degree of shock..."Why do you need to take a test?" My first thought was why I needed a reason to take the test, because the billboard I read in the subway every morning told me to go take the test and know my status. And then a thought rushed into my head...I was going to have to lie to get a HIV/Aids test. WTF. So I said to the nurse, "well, I know I should be practicing safe sex, but there are times when my partner and I don't use protection. I've been with 6 guys the last year and I'm sure they've been with other women." All of a sudden, her demeanor changed. I was no longer the sophisticated, pretty black woman that stepped into the office 15 minutes ago, I was ho...but, I got my test.

We all love our Blackberry Phones. We all love our Iphones, but Verizon or RIM really, decided to combine the two. Guess what, THE STORM IS NOT POPPIN!! First of all, you couldn't even walk into a Verizon store to find one on display that you could play with. Second, when you did manage to find 1 out of the 500,000 people who actually bought one, you had a hard time even getting started. Third, you had to press down so hard you felt like you were breaking the phone. In the Wall Street Journal this week there was an article announcing the sales for The Storm. 500,000 units sold in one month compared to the Iphone who sold 2.4 mill in their first quarter. I have a quote from a Verizon Wireless employee. Correction, Verizon Wireless Corporate, that is.

"I'm not gonna front that joint is wack. I'm only holding it until the curve 2 comes out. The storm is garbage and it keeps freezing. Iphone is definitely a better phone.
Only thing good with Verizon is the reception, but their phones suck they get every phone last" -EF

You better not let your boss hear you talking trash. Tisk Tisk!

In a nutshell, stick with your Iphone or stick with your Curve, World edition, Bold or even if you still rocking the old VCR Blackberry.

I get so annoyed when people say “In today’s economy”. Blah Blah…It’s the most overrated phrase for the year and people say it to make themselves seem so knowledgeable about what’s going on. What do you know about today’s economy? Do you even know what economy means? Do you know what stocks and bonds are and what the difference is? Do you know how your dollar impacts the US, let alone the world? No! You see that the price of Frosted Flakes went up and you complain about needing to go on a budget. Pick that price apart and find out why it is so high or low and where your money is going. People, wake up!! Stop using these phrases losely.
Become more knowledgeable about what’s going on today. Know what your options are for your money. Make your money work for you. Don’t keep cash around, you worked hard for it, so make sure it earns its keep. Pay yourself first. We’ve all heard that before. It’s your money. Try to understand the stock market as much as you can. It was set up so the “common” man would not understand, but don’t be “common”. Do your research and truly understand the words that are coming out of your mouth.

Glow in the Dark Tour - Kanye West

Kanye’s concert was Tuesday Aug 5 @MSG. He brought his “A” game. Not only was the set beautiful, but he poured his heart and soul into every lyric he delivered.
D-Ray from Wild N’ Out and Kanye’s skit man from his past albums, hosted the show last night. He was ok. Could have done without him, but he was there to keep the crowd quiet while they rolled their blunts. We all were high. Lupe Fiasco performed and he was great. He has a huge following and he is on his way to becoming bigger that what we expected him to be. N.E.R.D performed next, but again, could have done without them. Pharrell is hot alone, but in N.E.R.D his music makes no sense. “All the girls standing in the line for the bathroom!” was the hook to his song. His cross between techno, punk rock and rap doesn’t do it for me. So then Kanye came out and the crown went wild. He started out with Good Morning, then went to Big Brother. He crash landed on a planet, fought aliens and complained about how he hasn’t had p#ssy in a long time. Whoa Kanye!! Overall the entire concert was great. I will definitely cop another concert tix to see him. Glow in the Dark Tour was excellent.
O forgot…. I copped the Shutter Shades!!

Step Brothers Movie - Hillllarious

Can you say nutsacks on a drum? When you watch the movie you will know exactly what I am talking about. Will Ferrell & John C Reilly's new movie Step Brothers was one of the funniest movies I've watched all year. Not only is the movie full of violence, immaturity and weird sex scenes, but the characters do manage to pull the plot together not leaving any loose ends. The guys acted like they were 12 and it seemed to work for these 45yr old 6 foot actors. Will did a good job with this movie because his last one "SemiPro" sucked ass.
Check it out in theatres now.

Touch Screen Blackberry

Yes... You read it correctly. The new touch screen Blackberry will be released hopefully by the end of the year. It's in competition with what we all know as the Apple Iphone. I know how hard it is to give up your blackberry, let alone be without it for more than an hour, but this new Blackberry Thunder will allow you to have the best of both worlds. The classic crack love of the Blackberry and the new innovative look of the Apple Iphone. I heard it may only be for Verizon customers exclusively.
There is also another phone due out called the Blackberry Bold which is thin, sleek and full of new features. It has Wi-Fi, 480 X 320 resolution and built in GPS. Look out for that soon my fellow crackberry peeps.

They Should Make a Show about the Crazy Stuff that goes on at My Job

Does anybody else wish that someone should make a comedy show about the weird office culture and how it’s so funny, stupid, and political at the same time and why people keep showing up to a job they hate everyday? A show about how damn near each day is awkward and no one wants to talk about the pink elephant that reports to work one time. No one at my job wants to get on the bosses bad side, everyone wants to take a personal and leave their work for some other day. A show where passing the buck is daily exercise and Human Resources doubles as the green mile. Does anyone else listen to music at work and fight off the constant urge to sing out loud to that Michael Jackson song that just streamed from Yahoo music? And what’s up with this company email thing and CCing the f-ing universe to decide whether to change the color on a powerpoint presentation. Oh and let us not forget about the awkward workplace romances and trying not to get caught lookin at your boo’s ass for 12 minutes. Someone should really make a show like that, but make the cast mainly white folks, ‘cause you guys do this office stuff the best. Hold on wait a minute, there’s already a show just like that on NBC called The Office. Whether you work in the corporate world, casino, or Burger King, you can relate to this show.

Let’s Nab Oprah – “The Boondocks”

I must say, I forgot how funny "The Boondocks" cartoon series was. Not only does the show tackle political issues, violence and growing up as a young BLACK kid, but it also tip toes around some of the most riveting and controversial issues. It’s truly hilarious! The series is on the Cartoon Network at night and it is truly a show you would not want to change the channel from.
So Friday’s repeat episode was about kidnapping Oprah Winfrey in hopes that she would reach out to her female audience and in turn, the female audience would fall in love with the kidnappers. How desperate are men becoming lately? Unfortunately, they raided the wrong bookstore next to the wrong coffee shop and nabbed Maya Angelou by mistake. And what do we all do when we see Maya Angelou as of late, turn the channel or like the kidnappers did, dump her out of the truck.

You have to have been in love to appreciate a real love story

Why the hell didn't I go see August Rush in the movies?!?!?! I would personally like to apologize to the writers, director, actors, and anyone else who played a hand in developing one of the best love stories I've seen a long time. I hate love stories just about as much as I hate chick flicks, but this movie was wonderful. No cliches no bullshit, just tears. If you've ever been in love with the one who got away I suggest watching this movie and I dare you not to cry.
5 out of 5 olive martinis!!!!

P.S. Beware, August Rush will give you the urge to call the one who got away...but don't because he/she has probably moved on and so should you. It's just a movie, not real life. Peace

I Swear I Got a Peak Underneath Terrance Howard’s Robe

My friend and I went to NYC to be packed like sardines in a can while enjoying the critically acclaimed play "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" at the Broadhurst yesterday evening. I think by the end of the play I figured out the metaphorical title; the damn cat wants to get off the hot ass roof. And I also learned another SAT word "mendacity." Don’t know what it means? Look it up, or better yet go see the play. Without giving away the storyline, each character struggles with a personal conflict, and I was struggling to get a peak inside Terrance Howard’s robe. He must have fallen 3 times and that damn robe didn’t open up once. It must have been buttoned and not actually tied, but anyway Howard is a great actor and it felt good to see him in a natural element rather than on a big screen. And yes, he is that fine in person. But enough of Howard, the other actors were wonderful as well. Rose, Rashad, Esposito, Myers, Jones, Anderson, and Stovall were great. The minute I saw Anderson, I thought I was watching a Tyler Perry movie, until Big Daddy started cursing everyone out. James Earl Jones knows a lot of four letters words; it felt weird hearing Darth Vader and Mustafa talk about sex and homosexulaity. So anyway, the stage effects were good, set design humble, and I am happy to confirm that the water was indeed overly priced (just in case you were loosing sleep over the latter.)
Two chicks and a computer give Cat on a Hot Tin Roof 3 out 5 olive martinis. We also recommend the play and dinner (shout out to the economy). So stop watching reality TV and get some culture; the girls on ANTM are whack anyway.

Iron Man Does Well

Alleged crackhead turned superhero. It's a fairytale for any other crackhead wanting a life past the pipe. Robert Downey Jr, gave a stellar performance this weekend in Marvel Entertainment's "Iron Man". This weekend's box office sales reached a whopping $100.8 million. $104.2 million since Thursday night's premiere.
Downey plays Tony Spark, a millionaire womanizer who builds a high tech robotic suit that has superhuman strength and the ability to fly. He becomes a superhero after he's realizes how his company's weapons are destroying the world. The only people he does fight are the same people the weapons were sold to as well as his partner gone bad. Typical, why do partners always go bad?
Overall the movie's sense of humor is right on point and not too over the top. The action scenes are done tastefully and not too drawn out. Very little love scenes, but hey, we know what really goes down behind Iron Man's iron. Go see the movie and let us know what you think.
And to Whitney Houston, there still is hope beyond the pipe. If Downey did it you can do it.

We rate it 4 out of 5 Olive Martinis when it comes to chicks seeing this flick.
